The Yellow Crane Tower is one of China's most famous ancient towers and a symbol of Wuhan. Located on Snake Hill overlooking the Yangtze River, the tower has been celebrated in poetry and literature for over 1,700 years. The current structure is a modern reconstruction that preserves the tower's historical significance.

History

Originally built in 223 CE during the Three Kingdoms period, the Yellow Crane Tower has been destroyed and rebuilt numerous times throughout history. The tower has inspired countless poets and artists, including Li Bai, whose famous poem about the tower is still taught in Chinese schools today. The current tower was completed in 1985.
