The Chengdu Research Base of Giant Panda Breeding is a world-renowned center for giant panda conservation and research. Home to over 100 giant pandas, the base provides visitors with the opportunity to observe these endangered animals in a natural habitat setting while supporting crucial conservation efforts.
History
Established in 1987 with just 6 giant pandas rescued from the wild, the base has grown to become the world's leading giant panda breeding and research facility. The base has successfully bred over 200 pandas and contributed significantly to global panda conservation efforts.
Visiting Tips
- Arrive early (8:00-10:00 AM) when pandas are most active
- Visit during feeding times for the best viewing experience
- The baby panda nursery is a highlight but requires separate tickets
- Allow 3-4 hours to see all areas including red pandas
- Photography is allowed but flash and loud noises are prohibited
